2025: Week 37
Reviving this weekly thing exactly a year after starting it. Got lazy this year and ended up writing on Threads instead but let me give this another shot.
Notes from the day
Mon, Sep 8
Success, as I’ve come to see it, is not in the rush of achievement but in the quiet rhythm of an unhurried life.
Tue, Sep 9
Corporate culture, left unchecked, can encourage zero-sum behavior. Reaching for consensus isn’t always valued and often mistaken for weakness.
Watching the Senate and Congress hearings on the misappropriation of public funds and realizing where the 30% they take out of my salary goes is downright infuriating.
Wed, Sep 10
Slowly realizing caring from my cactuses actually helps keep me sane. 🌵
Thu, Sep 11
Dropped my phone while riding my bike—third time I’ve done so. I’ve always been lucky enough that there’s no car or motorcycle trailing close behind me that I get to hit the brakes and pick it up where it landed. Surprisingly, no serious damage. In all 3 times, it’s been wrapped in a Smartish case and a Ventev screen protector.
Would’ve easily been the perfect time to upgrade to a new phone given the Apple announcements but this 5-year-old iPhone 11 of mine is simply built like a tank and refuses to die.
Fri, Sep 12
Read this afternoon: Your capacity for excellence is inversely proportional to the number of your commitments.
Sat, Sep 13
First time to try Mabuhay Craft Coffee in San Juan. Their Tablea Mocha drink was so good!
Sun, Sep 14
Started the day with a 3am cheeseburger with the wife.
Kids and I finally defeated the Arch-Illager and Heart of Ender in Minecraft Dungeons.
Other things
Listened to an Acquired episode on IKEA and a little underwhelmed at how IKEA isn’t a Swedish word but instead the initials of the founder (Ingvar Kamprad), the farm (Elmtaryd), and the village (Agunnaryd) he was born in. It’s like me coming up with MSQC as my brand. 😂
Irrational Dedication - Everything around you–every convenience you enjoy, every space you inhabit, every service you use–was one person’s refusal to accept the world as it was.
