2025: Week 40
On marriage counseling and life outside of work.
On marriage counseling
My wife and I had a marriage counseling session. It still feels strange to put that into words.
There’s a stigma that it means you’ve given up. But for us, it felt more like a pause—a waypoint—to see if we’re still on course toward where we want to go.
It’s humbling, because it means admitting we can’t do it all on our own. Yet through it, we found clarity on things we didn’t even know we needed to talk about.
And if anything, I’d tell couples to try it not only when things are rough, but as a rhythm you build into the marriage.
In the end, marriage isn’t about never needing help. It’s about choosing to grow together again and again.
Notes from the day
Mon, Sep 29
Read this morning.
“I think that a life properly lived is just learn, learn, learn all the time.” —Charlie Munger
And I think that’s what I’m trying to do with my life: to keep learning. Approaching things with humility while holding space for uncertainty—constantly asking the question, What else might I not know about this? Applies to work, relationships, and pretty much everything else in life.
Tue, Sep 30
As much as I hate checking LinkedIn, found a gem this morning:
Don’t incorporate too early.
Don’t waste money on lawyers or bank accounts.
Test the idea. Build a prototype. Get first revenue.
A Google Doc is free. Shutting down a company is not.
Wish I knew the above two years ago. Could’ve saved me a ton of anxiety, stress, and money.
Wed, Oct 1
Attending the final session of a Product Management Certification that started way back in July. Finally getting 3 hours of my life back every week from here on.
Thu, Oct 2
Today was both draining and disorienting and a walk around a couple of blocks somehow helped relieve myself from these feelings.
Fri, Oct 3
Patching an inner tube seems to be more fun that anything else right now.
Sat, Oct 4
Biked 10km to get breakfast with the family. These things are always fun in theory but mildly exhausting in practice. I have to keep track of everyone, watch out for traffic, while taking photos at the same time. Yet somehow, these little challenges are seemingly what I enjoy doing.
Sun, Oct 5
Today was chaotic, but the fun kind. Found two new games to buy for the family: Lift it! and Ghost Blitz.
Other things
A Thoughtful Start - a free workshop by my wife for parents interested in homeschooling their kids. I’m super excited to work on this project with her.
