2025: Week 46
Growing up doesn’t really end
Notes from the day
Mon, Nov 10
Unhinged conversations.
Daughter: Don’t give up on your dreams.
Me: So sleep in, basically.
Tue, Nov 11
There’s nothing quite as unnecessary as networking dinners.
Wed, Nov 12
Having fun playing around with my new camera, a Ricoh GR IIIx. I realize how much I hate trial and error and would rather just get it right the first time but I guess that’s the gift of photography.
You really will suck at first but slowly—and I guess with acceptance that it is a process—you will get a better understanding of the elements that goes into a photo and, in turn, become better at taking it.
Thu, Nov 13
I miss waking up with a purpose beyond adding to shareholder value—or just ticking off whatever my manager asks me to do.
Fri, Nov 14
No one told me how emotionally unstable you’d become once you hit your 40s. Kids are growing up; parents are growing old. You feel so distant to those you were extremely close with growing up because everyone’s leading their own lives now. It hits you that growing up never really stops, and nobody prepares you for that.
Sat, Nov 15
There’s nothing quite like hearing your kids say they had a great day because you spent time with them. I should always keep this in mind.
Sun, Nov 16
If a cafe doesn’t know how to make a simple cortado, take this as a sign and leave.
