2025: Week 47
A week that really took its time đŽâđ¨
Notes from the day
Mon, Nov 17
Our daughter asking me what time I need to leave for work because she wanted to make me a sandwich to take with me is easily one of the sweetest things Iâll remember for a long time.
Tue, Nov 18
Most startups these days donât have physical offices anymore and employees are simply trusted to be working wherever they are. Funny how the younger companies feel more mature about trust, while the big ones still push RTO like presence equals productivity.
Wed, Nov 19
Our daughter has been writing fiction and kept asking us to read her drafts. I kept saying I would, but then work would always get in the way. Today, while she was out, I finally sat down and read the first three chapters. I was surprised by how good sheâs gotten. When she got home and went to our room to grab her computer, I recited a line from chapter two and her face lit up right away. So yes, fellow dads. It really is the little things.
Thu, Nov 20
Itâs Twixâs supposedly 15th birthday today. He was our Chihuahua who passed away in 2022 after being run over by a car in our village. I felt sad taking a photo of his urn. It still hurts to this day that we lost him so quickly. There were still lots of things we wanted to do and experience with him.
Fri, Nov 21
This was probably one of the longest weeks everâglad Iâm able to wrap it up in one piece.
Sat, Nov 22
Itâs been 3 months since I bought my Ricoh GR IIIx and so far Iâve been having tons of fun taking photosâwhether itâs walking to get coffee in the morning or on a 80-kilometer bike ride. Learning how to use it and adjust the settings on the go has been pretty challengingâdaunting to say the leastâbut Iâm really loving the learning that comes with it. I really want to take up graphic design and be able to tell stories through the photos I take.
Sun, Nov 23
Rode out at 12pm expecting the sun to be out and unforgiving but instead got greeted by drizzles, two kids high-fiving me from the curb, and one kid shouting, âkaya mo âyan, kuya!â while I was riding uphillâto whom I shouted âthank youâ back.
Todayâs ride was different but surprisingly good to say the least.
Other things
What if this were your last moment with someone? â This really resonated with me especially in this stage of my life. Lately Iâve been feeling very emotional about time passingâour kids growing up, our parents growing old, opportunities closing up. Again and again Iâve found myself wanting to get out of the rat race to pursue something more meaningful. It pushed me to reconsider where Iâm headed and what I want the next years to look like.
