2025: Week 48
A November to remember. Actually, no. I just thought it rhymed well.
Notes from the day
Mon, Nov 24
Our 11-year-old son is so into the greatest showman that he’s memorized not just the songs but the actual lines from the movie.
He was googling stuff about it and gasped before saying out loud, “WAIT HUGH JACKMAN IS WOLVERINE??”
It’s 10 in the evening and he’s somehow dismantled the dustpan and is now performing the opening sequence while I lie dead ass tired in bed.
Tue, Nov 25
One of my go-tos for surviving corporate life is getting coffee somewhere a bit farther than necessary. The walk clears your head and reminds you there’s a world outside whatever’s eating you at your desk.
Wed, Nov 26
Spent time with our 11-year-old Googling what an official NBA backboard looks like and recreating it on a cardboard to attach to his indoor hoop.
This was time well spent.
Thu, Nov 27
Incredible day as a bike commuter using feminine wipes instead as I forgot I ran out of my regular wipes the other day. Was smelling eucalyptus-y all day.
Fri, Nov 28
Nothing like listening to The Rest Is History podcast while eating a double cheeseburger at lunch while working from home.
Sat, Nov 29
Everyone—and I say this fully convinced—should read Morgan Housel’s The Psychology of Money.
It sets up a simple premise, that money is mostly about behavior rather than brilliance, and the way each chapter tells its stories makes that lesson feel real.
It’s one of those rare books that quietly rewires how you think about life, choices, and what it means to be genuinely happy.
Sun, Nov 30
My dad said, these days, he doesn’t bother getting aggressive on the road anymore. If someone looks like they’re in a hurry, he just let’s them cut in. Then he said something that stayed with me: “You’re going to carry that anger for how long instead of just letting go?”
This man is far from the gun-toting and always on the edge person I knew as a kid and this gives me great hope that people, if given a chance, can and will change for the better.
